Certified Dental Assistant (CDA)

Health Sciences and Human Services

Sandra Woodrow began her career as a Certified Dental Assistant after graduating from Douglas College in the 1980s. She spent over 20 years in private practice, applying her full range of clinical skills across a variety of dental specialties. In 2010, she completed the Orthodontic Module to further enhance her expertise.

Sandra鈥檚 passion for teaching was sparked through years of mentoring practicum students in the clinical setting. In 2005, she made the decision to pursue that passion and transition into education. She completed the Provincial Instructor Diploma Program in 2007 and has been dedicated to teaching and supporting Certified Dental Assistant students ever since.

In addition to her work in education, Sandra served as President of the Vancouver Central Certified Dental Assistants Society for 13 years, where she mentored over 100 CDAs and played a vital role in professional development within the community. She joined the National Dental Assisting Examining Board of Canada (NDAEB) in 2011 as a Clinical Practical Evaluator and advanced to the role of Session Facilitator in 2014. She served on the NDAEB鈥檚 Clinical Practical Evaluation Committee for seven years and continues to contribute as a member of their Angoffing Committee for the national written examination.

Sandra is deeply committed to student success and finds great fulfillment in guiding learners through their educational journey. Supporting students as they grow personally, academically, and professionally remains the most rewarding aspect of her career.
